TD Stat Lab
A downloadable tool
Now updated to V2
Tower families now support BASE → A1/A2 and BASE → B1/B2 upgrade paths, advanced enemy profiles, slow/control/support effects, AOE analysis, level comparisons and expanded import/export.
What is KAPITOLE?
KAPITOLE is a satirical pixel-art Tower Defense currently being developed by PointClair.
The towers and enemies visible throughout TD Stat Lab are not placeholder demo data. They are assets and statistics from the actual game we are building.
The character and tower sprites shown in the example project were created and refined using our own PointClair Sprite Studio, another local tool in the PointClair catalogue.

As KAPITOLE grows, new problems will require new tools: waves, economy, placement, upgrades, difficulty simulation and eventually the game runtime itself.
Those tools will be developed and released progressively.
Tool #01 — TD Stat Lab
The first problem was simple:
How do you balance a Tower Defense without constantly calculating DPS, time-to-kill, costs and enemy durability by hand?
TD Stat Lab provides a visual workspace for defining towers and enemies, comparing their relationships, and testing a preliminary wave balance before spending time implementing the complete game.
You enter the game data.
The tool does the calculations.
You adjust the design.
Build your tower roster
Create towers with properties such as:
- construction cost
- damage per hit
- attack interval / fire rate
- range
- projectile speed
- attack type
- AOE radius
- slow percentage
- slow duration
- targeting behaviour
TD Stat Lab automatically derives values such as DPS and lets you compare how different tower archetypes behave.
You can also import a PNG directly into each tower.
The image becomes part of the object and stays attached when the project is saved or exported.
Build your enemy roster
Define enemies with:
- HP
- movement speed
- kill reward
- base damage
- individual PNG artwork
Then test them directly against your towers.
TD Stat Lab calculates:
- shots to kill
- theoretical time-to-kill
- total damage dealt
- overkill
- tower/enemy relationships
Towers × Enemies Matrix
The Matrix gives you a complete overview of your combat relationships.
Every tower is tested against every enemy so you can quickly spot:
- enemies that die too easily
- enemies that are excessively durable
- towers that dominate every matchup
- weak or redundant tower archetypes
- suspicious TTK differences
Instead of checking dozens of combinations manually, you can inspect the whole roster at once.
Compare and Charts
Use dedicated comparison views to inspect your tower designs from different angles.
Charts help visualize relationships such as:
- construction cost vs DPS
- time-to-kill against a selected enemy
Selecting another enemy updates the combat analysis so you can inspect how the same tower roster behaves against different targets.
Balance Scenario
This became one of the most important parts of the tool while we were balancing KAPITOLE.
Individual DPS and HP values are useful, but a Tower Defense is ultimately built around waves.
Balance Scenario lets you define a preliminary gameplay target:
- desired wave clear time
- maximum safe clear time
- number of available tower slots
- available construction budget
- number of each enemy in the wave
TD Stat Lab then estimates the result of several possible tower strategies.
For example:
- rapid-tower spam
- heavy-tower spam
- AOE spam
- support-heavy strategies
- mixed construction
The goal is not to force every strategy to perform identically.
The goal is to identify obvious balance problems before they reach the game.
Suggested Adjustments
When the scenario falls outside the intended balance window, TD Stat Lab can suggest changes to values such as:
- tower damage
- construction cost
- enemy HP
- available budget
And if the recommendation makes sense for your design, you can press Apply.
The value is modified automatically and the scenario is recalculated.
No spreadsheet editing.
No external calculator.
No manually changing the same number in several places.
Import your own artwork
Every tower and enemy can contain its own PNG.
Use Import PNG, select the artwork, and it becomes embedded directly into the project.
No external asset path is required.
Imported artwork is used throughout the interface and remains attached to the corresponding object when the project is saved or exported.
This is also how the included KAPITOLE example project works.
A real example project is included
TD Stat Lab includes the current KAPITOLE roster as its example project:
4 towers
- Capitol Guard Booth
- Legal Department
- Media Van
- Fact-Check Station
7 enemies
- MAGA Bro
- FakeNewser
- Boomer Brigade
- Karen
- Conspiracy Preacher
- Karlie Chuck
- The Orange Commander
Their artwork is embedded directly into the project.
You can open the example, change the numbers and immediately see how the relationships evolve.
Local workflow
TD Stat Lab runs locally in your browser.
- no account
- no subscription
- no server required
- no cloud dependency
Projects can be saved locally and reopened later.
Data can also be exported for use outside the tool.
Current V1
TD Stat Lab is designed for preliminary statistical balancing.
It does not pretend to fully simulate a finished Tower Defense.
The current model does not yet reproduce:
- exact map geometry
- real tower placement
- exact path coverage
- detailed spawn timing
- tower upgrade trees
- player spells or active abilities
- full support/buffer interactions
- complete runtime combat simulation
That is intentional.
Those systems will progressively become measurable as the next KAPITOLE development tools are created.
The balancing targets you define today remain useful; later tools will simply replace approximations with more precise game data.
Building KAPITOLE, one tool at a time
TD Stat Lab is Tool #01.
The current plan for KAPITOLE will progressively explore subjects such as:
Wave design → Economy → Path & Placement → Targeting → Tower Upgrades → Difficulty Simulation → Runtime → Polish
When one of those stages reveals a problem that can become a useful standalone tool, we intend to build it, use it ourselves, and release it.
So TD Stat Lab is both:
a standalone Tower Defense balancing tool
and
the first public piece of the development pipeline behind KAPITOLE.
Feedback
This is the first release of TD Stat Lab and the first tool in the KAPITOLE series.
If you use it on your own Tower Defense, feedback is useful — particularly about balancing workflows that still require external calculations or repetitive manual work.
Those are exactly the kinds of problems this project is intended to turn into future tools.
